From Bubble Tea & marshmallows, to being named Pantone's color of the year, Lavender is inescapable. However, if you haven't been noticing Lavender in the beauty world, here's your sign to start learning more!

No matter what part of your, "Lavender," skincare journey you're on, we're here to help. We have the details on the history, benefits and best practices on incorporated this amazing oil into your daily routine.

An introduction to Lavender

Lavender isn't as recent as it may seem, dating back to the Egyptians, the French, and the English, it's been widely used for many of its healing effects. Famously used in salves, balms, massage oils, makeup and more, for many cultures Lavender became a staple, and for good reason.

Lavender originates from the Mediterranean and is a sub species of the mint family. Known for its bright and fragrant florals, there are over 47 species and 400 varieties of the plant. Each variety has been cultivated for their specific resources, ranging from stress relief & inflammation to floral decor and cultivation.

You've probably realized by now, Lavender is more than just a pretty plant; it's uses seem endless, and the magic is found in the oil. Lavender oil is heavily celebrated today and has been used as a means to cure headaches, anxiety, and even skin disorders.

How Lavender Essential Oil is Cultivated

Easily one of the most popular oil amongst essential oil lovers, how do they cultivate the magic?

After the Lavender has been fresh cut, it is placed into a steam distiller. Careful not to pack with too many stems, the sill is filled to the top and them diffused, while the remaining liquids are captured separately. Once the steam has been condensed, you are left with oils and hydrosol, the next step is to separate the two.

(hydrosol is an incredible by-product and you can read more here)

The Top 4 Reasons to Incorporate of Lavender Essential Oil in your Skincare

1) Lavender Oil Fights Acne

We know what you're thinking "use oil to fight acne? That's crazy!" However, contrary to popular belief, acne typically appears when your skin is lacking oil. Dry skin naturally encourages sebum glands to overproduce leading to acne and uneven skin.

Lavender oil is a natural antiseptic, while it naturally moisturizes and balances PH. This means that once the oil enters your pores, it begins eliminating acne at the source.

2) Fights Inflammation, Eczema & Dry Skin Conditions

As we previously mentioned, adding oil to your skincare routine can have a bigger benefit than you imagine. If you've been feeling itchy, inflamed or lack-luster, Lavender may be able to help. Lavender does a stellar job at balancing your skin's natural moisture barrier, leading to healthier skin all around. This means that it is a great way to fight insect bites, acne scaring, redness, and blotchy patches. When paired with the perfect product, it can be the exact relief you need.

3) Heals Injured and Damaged Skin

As we mentioned in the beginning, Lavender was long used for healing scars and wounds, as well as chapped and dry skin. The antiseptic properties allow skin cells to heal faster, further preventing injuries.

Using lavender based soaps, salves and ingredients are a great way to fix cuticles, cuts and scaring, anywhere on your body.

4) Prevents Wrinkles

Everyone is looking for a way to slow the aging process, or just age gracefully. Lavender essential oil is a potent source of antioxidants and phytochemical (specifically Perillyl alcohol (POH)) that make this oil useful for battling signs of premature aging.

While Lavender oil is known to aid in stress and anxiety relief, as shown, its magic doesn't stop there. It's uses are seemly endless, which make it the perfect oil to add to your routine.
